Allen Law Firm Scholarship – An Introduction
The Allen Law Firm Scholarship is an annual financial aid award offered to incoming students at law schools all over the country. The scholarship covers one year of tuition at participating law schools. To qualify for the award, applicants must demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need. The Allen Law Firm Scholarship was created by the Allen Law Firm with the purpose of making legal education more affordable to qualified students. Access to an affordable, quality legal education has a strong impact on social mobility, professional success and personal development. The Allen Law Firm believes that a legal education can help lower barriers to advancement faced by those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and that it’s important to support diversity in the field of law . The scholarship is available to all federal aid, including Pell Grants, student loans and grants. However, recipients are expected to use the funds toward their tuition with the ultimate goal of graduating from law school with as little debt as possible. There is no application form for the Allen Law Firm Scholarship. Instead, applicants will be chosen on an ongoing basis based on their current academic performance. After winning the scholarship, students must maintain a high performance average for each subsequent semester they attend law school. This usually corresponds with a 3.0 grade point average or higher. The Allen Law Firm Scholarship is a great way for students to lower their educational costs and walk away from law school debt-free.

Apply Correctly: Tips to Enhance Your Application
After you have confirmed that you meet the basic eligibility requirements for the Allen Law Firm Scholarship, it is time to start preparing your application materials. In addition to completing the application itself, you will need to write a personal statement and commit to finding at least one person to send a detailed letter of recommendation. Let’s take a look at each component so that you can strengthen your application and get your chance to be among the winners of the Allen Law Firm Scholarship.
Personal Statement
Writing the personal statement is where you will be able to make a strong case for why you deserve the scholarship and why you should be considered a strong candidate for the award. You should use the space to talk about your educational and career goals and how the scholarship will help you achieve them. Essentially, you are making a case for your application by giving the committee additional insights into what drives you.
You should keep in mind that the committee will be reading many of these personal statements and will be looking for strong examples that are also unique. It can be easy to go online and get an example personal statement to reference. While this can be useful, you should not simply copy and paste the example personal statement into your application. Instead, use these examples as a guide to writing your own. Personal statements that are clearly original and tell your story will always stand out. You should aim to leave a lasting impression rather than be viewed as a "cookie cutter" example.
Letter of Recommendation
The letter of recommendation will likely be the most old school component of your scholarship application. You are likely already used to requesting letters of recommendation as part of the college application process and this is no different. Your letter writer will likely be familiar with the process and, as long as you follow the above guidelines, you shouldn’t have any problems getting a strong letter.
A strong letter of recommendation will come from someone who knows you well, such as a teacher, professor, or counselor. It can be tempting to get a letter from someone who has a well-known name, but this may not say anything to the committee about who you are in relation to the scholarship itself. So, if you know a famous attorney or judge, it would not be as helpful as a strong letter from your high school principal.
We recommend that each applicant secure a minimum of two letters of recommendation to include two in your application and retain the second in case the first example doesn’t meet the criteria or cannot be sent in on time. You can also use the second letter of recommence for future scholarships, or even jobs. Having a strong letter of recommendation on file can help you in the future.
How Past Recipients Succeeded
The tremendous amount of money that we are able to provide in scholarships would not be possible if not for the great fortune of Allen Law Firm. But, perhaps even more important is the fact that we are grateful to have an opportunity to learn more about students and see how our scholarship can make a difference in the lives of young students. As time goes on, we have started to compile success stories from a variety of our recipients to talk about how the Allen Law Firm Scholarship was able to help them achieve their academic dreams. The first stories we have to share with you is from three of our previous recipients. Brian Ward was a 22-year-old student at Transylvania University when he received our first-ever scholarship in 2008. He had suffered a lot of hardships in his young life including the loss of his father to a drunk driver when he was just a child. He was determined to get his college degree, however, because he wanted to be a lawyer. He was inspired by his father’s battle with insurance companies after he was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle. Ward eventually graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2010 with a degree in History. Today, he is a Community Service Coordinator at Kentucky Legal Aid and in the process of obtaining his Juris Doctorate. Another recipient who has since gone on to accomplish great things is Nathan Elpers , a student at Purdue University when he won the scholarship. He was an ambitious double major in both Pre-Med and Political Science with a minor in Spanish and Sociology. He has had internships with the Indiana House of Representatives and the Indiana Legislative Services Agency. After graduating in 2011, he was offered a 14-month position as a Policy Intern with the Housing Development Authority. He is now a Medical Student at Indiana University School of Medicine Indianapolis. Our third recipient to highlight was also a Purdue University student when she won the scholarship. Natalie Lintner was an Elementary Education Major who intended to use her law scholarship to attend a law school after graduation to become an education-focused attorney. She graduated in 2011 and went on to get her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Educational Leadership and Supervision from Western Kentucky University. Now she works in Indianapolis, Indiana as an elementary school teacher. As you can see, the Allen Law Firm Scholarship gives students the chance to reach their goals. We are proud to support those who are determined to help others and succeed inn life.
